NCC Bans Telecommunication Operators From Lotteries, Promotions

This is a big blow to the telecommunications operators as the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC on Monday banned the telecommunications operators against running lotteries and promotions.

Its true na...with ridiculous promotions like "winning an airplane"...very soon we would hear "win a country"...LOL

A statement was issued by Tony Ojobo, the Director, Public Affairs of the commission in Abuja. NCC has already signed a Memorandum of understanding with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.

The commission have apparently received several complaints from consumers and stakeholders against the various promotions offered by the operators. 


The Telecom Operators affected by the ban are: GLOBACOM, MTN, INTERCELLULAR,VISAFONE, ETISALAT, AIRTEL and MULTILINKS.

The commission said it was determined to ensure that the quality of service offered by the networks were such that delivered value to the consumers.
