She'll be contributing to the magazine's celebrity-news fueled "Paper Napkin interview" column and blogging for them at The Daily South, where she'll also cross-post from The Novo Project, an inspirational blog she founded with her friend Mia Baxter.

Southern Living was launched in 1966 "to highlight the beauty and culture of the growing South. Filled with easy-and-elegant decorating ideas, comfort cooking recipes, and soft-focused articles about the genteel and famous, it quickly became a staple for ladies who live below the Mason-Dixon line.

The magazine's circulation has dipped slightly in recent years, with newsstand sales taking a harder hit, but the biggest issue they face is their aging audience—the median age of Southern Living readers is 51.2 years old.

Gold Christmas Tree Sells For N662m In Tokyo

Well reports have it that the Gold Christmas tree is covered with Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell and Cinderella and that the tree-like ornament is made of 40 kg (88 pounds) of pure gold, standing about 2.4 meters (7.9 ft) high and 1.2 meters in diameter. It is also decorated with pure gold plate silhouette cutouts of 50 popular Disney characters and draped with ribbons made of gold leaf.
The price tag? A mere 350 million yen ($4.2 million, N662m).

60 Nigerians Deported From UK Over Marriage, Visa Scams

At least 60 Nigerians in the United Kingdom have been deported because of various criminal offenses. Some of the deportees had contravened immigration offences, while some were deported for their involvement in crimes such as molest, stealing, smoking and selling of hard drugs. Others used fake visa or engaged in fake marriages.

Some of the deportees said at the airport that they had lived in the UK for long but could not get residence permit.

RIP KAYODE ESO

Eminent Nigerian  jurist, Justice Babakayode Eso is dead. The popular judge died at his home in Lagos today according to a family source.

Justice Eso is regarded as one of the most daring and respected judge of the Nigerian Supreme Court to ever live. Born in Ilesha in Osun state, Justice Eso has a bachelors as well as masters degree in law from the Trinity College in London.

He was aged 87. May his soul rest in peace.

RIP PETE ENEH...

Veteran actor, Pete Eneh who recently got his leg amputated has passed on. He died yesterday evening in Enugu where he had been receiving treatment for over 4 months for a leg infection. His leg was amputated on the 24th of October due to serious infection he got after sustaining an injury that refused to heal because of his diabetic condition. He will be missed for sure, just like we are missing Sam Loco Efe and others .

May their souls rest in peace.

Van Persie out of Dutch squad

Lovers of Football and Fans of my former favorite footballer... Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Holland squad to face Germany on Wednesday due to a thigh injury.

NCC Bans Telecommunication Operators From Lotteries, Promotions

This is a big blow to the telecommunications operators as the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC on Monday banned the telecommunications operators against running lotteries and promotions.

Its true na...with ridiculous promotions like "winning an airplane"...very soon we would hear "win a country"...LOL

A statement was issued by Tony Ojobo, the Director, Public Affairs of the commission in Abuja. NCC has already signed a Memorandum of understanding with the National Lottery Regulatory Commission.

The commission have apparently received several complaints from consumers and stakeholders against the various promotions offered by the operators. 


The Telecom Operators affected by the ban are: GLOBACOM, MTN, INTERCELLULAR,VISAFONE, ETISALAT, AIRTEL and MULTILINKS.

The commission said it was determined to ensure that the quality of service offered by the networks were such that delivered value to the consumers.

I almost screamed when the amount was disclosed on net...all together the awards cost N236m...well i got this from NET website.

The show’s executive producer Ayo Animashaun disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Nigerian Entertainment Today. 

The figure covers sound, lighting, venue, logistics, plaques and events. And the budget came from mostly corporate sponsors, including MTN, Lucozade, and Verve.

This year’s event was held on October 20, 2012 at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. 

Been thinking about this amount since ooo...if they spent some money on Sound...hmmm...well i was there at the event and i can confidently say the sound of that day no make sense at all...they need to get a refund from whoever was handling the sound on that day. But well who say money no dey for Naija...go think am again oooo...LOL

 I don't know why my favorite part time singer missed her first public performance as she failed to show up at BON awards in Lagos over the weekend.

She was actually billed to perform, as that was an opportunity to have shown bad belle people that she could make it not only in Nollywood but also in the music industry in Nigeria.

Another Private University Shut Down

National Universities Commission have come again...the commission have shut down FAITH UNIVERSITY... i have not heard about the institution before sef...

The University is a private university situated in Delta State and has been shut down by the regulatory bodies for operating illegally in Nigeria.

Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Hope Eghagha said that the University has not been registered by NUC.

The university believed to be owned by a pentecostal church with head office located in Isoko area of the state has given admission to several students in Nigeria without accreditation from NUC.

The university was said to have commenced operations in 2007 as a theology centre, where members of a particular church and interested members of the public where being trained to become pastor.

I recently watched the preview of this movie...its a movie that needs to be watched.

The movie, "Flight" which opens on the 2nd of November, Denzel Washington plays a pilot who's praised for landing a crashing flight, but then comes under fire when its discovered that he had alcohol in his system at the time of the incident.

His character, Whip Whitaker is considered by many to be an alcoholic.


Flight is a 2012 American mystery drama film directed and co-produced by Robert Zemeckis and featuring an ensemble cast including Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle, Melissa Leo, Bruce Greenwood, Kelly Reilly, and John Goodman.

Flight is Zemeckis' first live-action film since 2000's Cast Away and What Lies Beneath.

This movie actually made Denzel Washington give up booze for all 45 days of filming...interesting!!!

Iceprince was born in Minna, Niger State but moved to Jos when he was two. Iceprince started writting songs in 1998 and started studio recording in 2001. He got together with some friends in 2002 and formed the Ecomog squard but split a year later.

He eventually met M.I and Jesse Jags in 2004 at a young persons' forum. He then released his first single, 'Extraordinary" in the same year.

Well now this Aboki is now one of the hottest properties in Nigeria's music industry after his 2010 hit, 'Oleku" ...and that is not all because he is really working hard to win more awards.

  I thought this woman was really a joke...but i didn't know how serious she was.You may be wondering who i am referring to, well i am talking about Hurricane Sandy who has come to destroy properties and kill innocent souls.

I watched CNN yesterday night which i normally don't do for more than an hour, and there i saw what Sandy had caused. I started to pray for my loved ones in New Jersey and New York ...all said they were okay...hmmm that response wasn't good for me, because i was actually watching the TV and i had a clue of what was going on.

My cousin's son who has just been to Nigeria once, saw his mum lighting a candle when there was black out in New Jersey and what did he say "Mummy, whose birthday is it today?" when she told me, i burst out laughing, at least that made me smile. I started pinging my sister who stays in New York ... she told me "I am safe but continue to pray for me".


This Sandy chic is actually putting the presidential campaign on hold, just a week before election day. At least 13 deaths were blamed on the storm.

Sandy knocked out power to at least 5.7 million people, and New York's main utility said large sections of Manhattan had been plunged into darkness by the storm, with 250,000 customers without power as water pressed into the island from three sides, flooding rail yards, subway tracks, tunnels and roads.

Just before its centre reached land, the storm was stripped of hurricane status, but the distinction was purely technical, based on its shape and internal temperature. It still packed hurricane-force wind, and forecasters were careful to say it remained every bit as dangerous to the 50 million people in its path. By late night, the centre of the storm was over southern New Jersey.

The National Hurricane Center announced at 8 p.m. that Sandy had come ashore near Atlantic City. It smacked the boarded-up big cities of the Northeast corridor, from Washington and Baltimore to Philadelphia, New York and Boston, with stinging rain and gusts of more than 85 135 kilometres per hour. The sea surged a record of nearly four metres at the foot of Manhattan, flooding the financial district and subway tunnels.

Have you ever visited a less privileged home...well i was opportune to go with friends on the 30th of September 2012 for the first time and i was stunned to see what it actually looked like.

It was different from what i heard about places like that...some people made it look like it was a school you were visiting, but my dear, it is way more than that. There was this connection i had with one of the children there and she had a mental problem, and all she wanted me to do was to carry her which i did. I did not care if she cut my beads on my neck because all she was doing was just holding on to them. With tears in my eyes i did not know when i kissed her fore head and she smiled and put her head on my neck...wow.

When i left the place, all i could think of was, how do they feel, so sure they want to be like us...some wish to know their parents, others want to be free mentally and physically...hmmmm.

Was meant to attend another home with Magaret Olajumoke Adebo (MOA) Cares Foundation on the 1st of October 2012 but it was in Lagos. They visited Modupe Cole Memorial Home and Care Center. It was said to be filled with loads of fun. Friends and volunteers of the foundation showered the home with various items that day...i sincerely wish i was there.

Janet Jackson who has converted to Islam has been dating Wissam Al Mana  who is almost a decade younger than her since 2010 summer.

The 5 time Grammy award winner, Janet Jackson is getting married to her Qatari multimillionaire fiance in a Muslim ceremony next year.

The couple are planning to spend $3million to fly in around 500 wedding guests while Wissam who doesn't mind spreading big when he ties the knot with Janet, wants to give attendees a $10,000 Rolex wrist watch as a thank you gift.

BABY BORN WITH DOUBLE FACE

 Wow...a baby born with 2 faces is really shocking...when i first saw these pictures i actually thought he was wearing a mask.

Kangkang's mother did not see him immediately at birth and broke into tears when she was finally allowed to behold her son following several pleas.

The causative factor of this condition is unknown but it is believed to be caused by an infection, or even frequent drug use by the mother. 


Though the treatment is expensive as Yi, Kangkang's mother discovered after she took him to a hospital in Changsha- capital city of Hunan, in south-central China, the family has been able to gather enough money for his treatment.

WHAT WENT WRONG AT THE HEADIES?

As for me and those i got to interview at the Headies...well we feel it was not good at all...yeah, you can say it was a flop.
The hall was filled with people and the show which was meant to begin at 9pm, started at 12am and ended after 3 in the morning.
The microphone was not working and that left those who were presenting the awards with only one microphone so obviously they were sharing it. In this age, i believe award shows should have gone past this.
Few people that i spoke with actually did not like the event at all... Apart from the sound system, most people complained about the awards not being given to the right people.
For example the awards that did not sound right were:
* Hip Hop world revelation of the Year - Wizkid (like really, how could such award be given to him...he should have gotten this last year or something)
* Album of the Year - P-Square ( i feel this award should be given to Wiz Kid)
* Best Vocal Performance Male - Wande Coal, for private trip ( this is really ojoro ooo...i really dont know what he sings...its too hard to sing along).
* Song of the Year - Oliver Twist by D'banj (please what happened to Kukere by Iyanya)

Well, Skales came up to collect Wizkid's award...i actually thought, the Pakurumo singer was not around, but someone told me he saw him sitting down there.
Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, P-square and May D amongst others were also not there to take their awards. I also observed that the same lady who came to receive P-square's awards also came out to receive May D's own....hmmmm...
M.I who was hosting the show with Omawunmi said it was because of the Felabration that some artistes did not come. But well as for me that aint true. They may have had another appointment but for the Felabration excuse, naah. The only known artiste that was billed for Saturday night was Vector who still was around for the Headies to collect his 2 awards.
Whew...now for some good reports...the hosts, M.I and Omawumi did a great job...and the best performers for me were, Dammy Krane, Burna Boy and Chidinma.
What got me thinking after the event was that my home boy, BEZ didn't win any award...wow...its not fair at all...apparently he had the highest nominations.

OMG! For the first time in my life I beheld a dead body. Even wen my own father died I could not gather the courage to look at him. But today, a twenty year old Lucy from Cross River state died in my eye. The FCDA came to Apo for demolition and d residents resisted it. I was there covering D Incident wen Suddendly trucks of police anti robbery squad(SARS) appeared and started shooting leading to loss of life.*cryin*
Here is Lucy. I watched her dead in my car. The 20 year old cross Riverian came to Abuja a month ago. She was a sales girl at a photo shop in Apo. She was killed by men of special anti-robbery squad on Friday morning.
