Chinese baby, rescued from toilet, is released to grandparents

The  newborn baby boy who was found alive inside a toilet pipe in Jinhua, China, has been released from hospital and taken home by his maternal grandparents.

The child's mother is still being treated at the hospital. The gist i initially heard about this story was that the mother of the baby who is 22 years old tried flushing the baby in the toilet. Apparently that wasn't what happened as the mother of the baby had stomach aches and she went to the toilet. It was actually close to her due date and the baby just slid out. 

The police said she tried to retrieve the baby with a stick, then decided to flush the toilet to clear away the blood.

But thank goodness the baby boy was saved by rescuers who went to the floor below and sawed away a section of pipe. But the baby was still stuck, so both the section of pipe and the infant were taken to a hospital. Working together, rescuers and doctors began removing the pipe, piece by piece. 

No charges have been filed against the mother.Already the baby is drinking formula. The firefighters and other rescuers involved visited the baby at the hospital  and sent clothes, formula powder and diapers.

Two Arik Air Cabin Crew Arrested At London Heathrow With Cocaine…

Two staff of Nigeria’s largest airline – Arik Air have been arrested at the Heathrow Airport in London for suspected drug trafficking, Nigeria’s anti-drug agency boss, Ahmadu Giade confirmed on Tuesday.

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency disclosed they had opened investigations after the Arik Airline workers were allegedly caught with cocaine. NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju said the allegations constituted a national embarrassment.

They left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, on Tuesday morning and arrived Heathrow about six hours later, the source said.

Banji Ola, Arik Air spokesperson said he did not have details. Ola did not know when the plane left Lagos and did not even know the names of the cabin crew involved.

In December 2011, a 29-year-old Arik Air cabin crew, Ms. Chinwendu Uwakaonyenma Ogbonnaya was arrested in London for drug trafficking.

She was jailed for five years last year. After serving her jail term in London, Ogbonnaya is expected to be deported back to Nigeria.

Prophet T.B Joshua’s Church Banned From Location In Ghana

Reports have it that a strict order has been given to the authorities of the T.B Joshua led Synagogue Church of all Nations, SCOAN by the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tettey Yehonu to quit hosting revivals at their Spintex auditorium in Accra due to the recently stampede in the church that claimed about four lives and left many seriously injured.

The stampede occurred as people struggled to secure better positions to receive holy water blessed by the Presiding Prophet, T.B Joshua.

DCOP Yehonu noted that the stampede that occurred at the weekend could have been avoided if the church had chosen a bigger venue to hold its events.

The police chief explained that “the place is too small to manage a congregation of that magnitude.”

He however suggested that the Accra Sports Stadium or the independence square were more suitable alternatives to handle a crowd of that magnitude and should be considered for use.

Meanwhile, officials of the Church who said it was the first time people died in any of their services worldwide, noted that they did all in their power to save the situation.

Oyo Awards N100m Scholarships

Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Tuesday presented scholarship awards worth N100m to some indigent students of Oyo state, making it the first time in twenty-eight years anyone would enjoy such gesture in the state.

The governor said the scholarships that were presented at the House of Chiefs, was for year 2011/2012.
The beneficiaries of the bursary/scholarship awards were final year students of universities and polytechnics and post-graduate students from tertiary institutions in Nigeria and abroad as well as those from colleges of aviation.

Presenting the cheque, the governor described the occasion as memorable, saying it was the first time that bursary awards would be given to students in the state in the last 28 years.

Angry Mob Undresses Woman, Rip Her Clothing After She Dressed Provocatively.

A group of men attacked a woman who was dressed in a mini skirt.

The men attacked the woman claiming that she was dressed inappropriately. The woman was spotted walking on the street in Kitengela, a town in Kenya.

The angry mob claimed the dress was too short. They argued with the woman to change into something more appropriate. When the woman ignored their request the men attacked her and undressed her.

The men then ripped her clothing apart so she could not put them back on, claiming that ” it was better for her to go unclad because her intentions were clear,” according to press reports in Kenya.

According to a witness, the crowd gathered around the woman and forcibly undressed her. Her clothes were torn and thrown away ensuring that she had nothing to cover her body as a punishment for dressing provocatively.

Obama Snubs Nigeria As He Visits Senegal, S’Africa, Tanzania

Nigeria’s Presidency will again be disappointed that for the second time in his administration, President Barack Obama and his wife Michele will be embarking on their second tour of Africa between June 26 and July 3, but will not visit Nigeria because of security concerns.

The Presidency was upbeat that Mr. Obama would visit the country whenever his itinerary was released but instead, the world’s most powerful President chose to visit Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania, during his eight-day visit to the continent.

Mary J. Blige Hit With $3.4 Million Tax Lien

Mary  J. Blige  is facing a new financial issue. The "Be Without You" hit maker is sued by the Internal Revenue Service for owing $3.4M in unpaid taxes. Reports say she failed to pay income taxes totaling around $574,000 in 2009, $2.2M in 2010, and $674,000 in 2011.

This adds to Mary J's list of problems. She still owes $901,000 to the state of New Jersey in back taxes. She also has outstanding debts stemming from lawsuits against her charity for failing to pay back several bank loans including a hefty $2.2M taken out from Signature Bank.

Kristen Stewart Is the World's Best Dressed Woman in 2013

Kristen Stewart was named the world's best-dressed woman two years in a row, according to a poll by Glamour magazine. She was also honored with being named the best-dressed couple with boyfriend Robert Pattinson who became this year's best-dressed man.

Having worn "cute grown-out crop," "age-appropriate event wardrobe," and "seriously must-have staples," Emma Watson was placed second on the list. Landing on the fourth place last year, Kate Middleton went up to the third place this year for "taking maternity chic in her nude-pump-adorned stride."

Chris Kelly, member of rap group, Kris Kross, dies at 34 Kris Kross.

 Chris Kelly, of the 90's hip-hop group Kriss Kross, has died. He died at the age of 34, and it is speculated that his death was caused by a suspected drug overdose.

Some policemen were called to Kelly's home by the rapper's cousin at around 4:30pm on Wednesday. After which he was taken to Atlanta Medical Centre. Kelly was pronounced dead at 5pm.


An autopsy is due to be held on Thursday. The duo's hit song Jump, from their 1992 debut album, Totally Krossed out, helped propel them to stardom as they sold four million copies in the US, topping the Billboard charts for eight weeks.
