SUSPECTED RITUALISTS BEHEAD 16 YR OLD GIRL IN ANAMBRA

A 16 year-old Miss Nwanneka Odah was, yesterday, beheaded by a three -man gang suspected to be ritual killers at Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

This came as the Awka branch manager of a new generation bank, (name withheld), Mr. Tochukwu Nnadi, was yesterday kidnapped about 7.30am on his way to the office.

Nwanneka was said to be hawking groundnuts along the Nawfia –Awka road close to Nawfia Comprehensive Secondary  School when the three young men allegedly pretended as if they wanted to buy groundnuts from her only for one of them to use a machete to cut off her head when she bent down to sell the groundnuts to them.

A relation of the deceased, Mr. Friday Ogalagu described the situation as terrible, lamenting that he had never seen such a thing in his life.

He said: “I was not there when it happened, but I was told that my cousin was stopped by three men who said they wanted to buy groundnuts. While two of them were on the road side, the third, who dressed like a mad man was standing closely.

When the girl bent down to put the ground nuts for them, the one close by brought out what somebody said looked like an axe and beheaded the girl. An Okada rider plying the road who saw what happened stopped and the three men ran into the bush, leaving their victim whose head was already severed, struggling for life.”

Ogalagu said that it was when people began to make inquiries about the parents of the girl that he was contacted.

Thousands face expulsion as UK university loses visa status

The British government has stripped a London university of its right to sponsor visas for overseas students, leaving thousands of students facing possible deportation.

London Metropolitan University had its Highly Trusted Status — which allowed it to sponsor visas for students from outside the European Union — revoked by the UK Border Agency on Wednesday over alleged failings in its procedures.

 

The move means current overseas students have 60 days to enrol on a course elsewhere, with more than 2,000 students facing deportation if they fail to find another university, according to the National Union of Students (NUS).

 

The union warned of “catastrophic” effects on Britain’s industry for educating students from overseas, which was estimated last year to be worth £14 billion (17.7 billion euros, $22.2 billion).

 

Almost 300,000 non-EU foreign students were enrolled in Britain in the 2010-11 academic year.

The university said on its website: “The implications of the revocation are hugely significant and far-reaching… Our ABSOLUTE PRIORITY is to our students, both current and prospective, and the University will meet all its obligations to them.”

 

Immigration minister Damian Green told BBC radio that after an audit lasting six months, the Border Agency found “a serious systemic failure where it appears that the university doesn’t have the capacity to be a proper sponsor”.

PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE WARNS FACEBOOK USERS

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned social media – especially Facebook users to be mindful of how they interact with the media. According to the cleric, some unscrupulous elements are using his name to defraud unsuspecting social media users.

The cleric said “Please be very careful what you easily fall for. There are some persons going around creating false Facebook pages or names, claiming they are Pastor E. A. Adeboye… All you have to do is a search for them on Facebook and they will add you and then pretend to be me, telling you to send some money into an account and because they know you will obey me, they are using this as a new form of fraud. Please stop them and report those pages to Facebook so they can be stopped.”

He also told of a member of the church who had reported to him on how he had been ordered by an impersonator to pay certain sums of money into a bank account for a trip to India.

About a couple of weeks ago, information hit the media about how Pastor Adeboye had instructed not to put on anything with the colour Red on a particular day, a rumour which was later denied by the revered pastor.

It seems some people just take delight in causing unnecessary tension. While using the social media for fraud and other illicit activities should – and cannot – be excused, users of the social media too have to be very careful.

MEET THE WORLD'S SHORTEST MAN AND WOMAN

For the first time in history, the shortest man and woman in the world have met. The shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi, 72, is from a remote area of Nepal and stands 21.5 inches tall. Eighteen-year-old Jyoti Amge hails from Nagpur, India and measures just under 25 inches tall.

It was a match made in heaven for Guinness World Records, which arranged the introduction for a photo shoot to promote the upcoming release of Guinness World Records 2013 on September 13. To provide scale, a record book (12 inches in length) was placed between Chandra and Jyoti for one of the photos.

Married Pastor Arrested After Allegedly Passing HIV To Women in His Church

Pastor Craig Lamar Davis looks like any other healthy, happy, heterosexual pastor with good family values.  He was once a preacher at the Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atlanta and a pillar of leadership in the community.  Also, like a lot of men at the front of the church, the pastor had a thing for the ladies.

Another thing you might want to know about Davis, according to authorities, is that the pastor is HIV positive.  He also didn’t seem to care who else became HIV positive after he slept with them.

The pastor was arrested for reckless conduct after police found that he was sleeping with several women with whom he was not married.  A woman by the name of Ronita McAfee says that she met the pastor on Facebook and began sleeping with him.

Ronita says that she became concerned when one of the pastor’s ex-girlfriends called to say that she had HIV.  She claims that the pastor then counseled her (presumably leaning on the word of the good “lawud”) and told her to get tested.   McAfee then says that she believed that, based on her observations, the pastor himself was not interested in getting treatment or changing his sexual behavior, in spite of his status.  This is what prompted her to seek out a warrant for his arrest.

Ronita is, by our best guess, the first person to file for the arrest of someone who was found to be having unprotected sex in Clayton County, GA while knowing that he is HIV-positive.  McAfee says that when the investigation began, another woman in the church leadership stepped forward with her confession about interacting with Davis.  The woman even claimed that she’d been celibate for 15 years before meeting him.  She too is HIV positive.

Ladies, please take a good look at this man, because the fact is that you probably know him.  He’s the nice, smooth, good-looking man that makes you want to get naked on the third or fourth date.  You trust him because you’ve been raised to believe that a man of God would never hurt you.  In fact, he might be the man that your church has had you waiting for because he is well-grounded in the Christian faith and knows all the religious buzzwords (“I’m saved,” “in the blood,” “God’s favor,” etc.).

 He can easily get into your head, because he knows that one defining characteristic of nearly every black woman in America is her deep and unshakable commitment to the church – in fact, the personality traits that make for a good pastor also happen to be the same ones that make for an exceptionally gifted pimp (although not all pastors are pimps).

As a man who’s written extensively about other sad creatures like Bishop Eddie Long (who also hails from Atlanta, aka the bible-thumping Sodom and Gomorrah), I find Pastor Davis’ case remarkable for several reasons:

First, the courage of these women to step out and publicly reveal the pastor’s deception has saved lives.  I wish there were a day where every 30 and 40-something year old black woman who has caught HIV, Herpes, Syphilis or some other disease would speak out about what happened to them, so that younger women don’t end up falling into the same trap.  

Countless women have died from catching something that their man brought home to them after fulfilling his “interpersonal needs” someplace else. Unfortunately, the relentless shame thrust upon “the good Christian girl” with a venereal disease keeps many of these stories from ever being told.  Also, modern feminist thought sometimes leads women to think that it’s OK to run through as many sex partners as the very worst of men.  Many of these women end up paying a significant price for this mentality.

PASTOR IN THE POLICE NET OVER HUMAN SKULL

A cleric, one Pastor Michael Oyewole and his accomplice, Matthew Akiode, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command, on Tuesday, for being in possession of a human skull, which they allegedly claimed to have exhumed from a grave at Sabo, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.

Oyewole, 32, also claimed to be a pastor at Ona-Ara Mimo Cherubim and Seraphim at Olomore, not far away from the crime scene.

He however denied involvement, while Akiode, who confessed to the crime, attributed his action to the economic situation in the country.

According to Akiode, “I used to work on his (pastor) site but he said I will make more money if I can get him human skull. So, I felt it was an easy way of making money, and that was why I did it… I am surprised he is denying all of these, when he was the actual person that taught me how to go about it.”

The cleric, however, insists that he was a man of God, and he heals people with God’s name and not with human skull. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner, Ikemefuna Okoye, while parading the suspects at the force headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta, said the accused persons committed the offence at about 12 a.m., adding that the police acted swiftly when they received information that someone was digging open a grave.

In the words of the CP, “He never knew that eagle eyes were watching him in the process of removing the corpse… We apprehended him immediately he severed the head from the body and he told us that it was one Pastor Oyewole that sent him.” The police Commissioner then said the accused persons would be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.

10yrs old boy Luckily Escapes Death As He Is Set Ablaze Over Witchcraft Allegation

A ten-year-old boy (names withheld) was in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, set ablaze for allegedly being a witch.

The incident which took place on Shalele street, near Immaculate Primary School, Lafia-East, Lafia, caused the child to be hospitalized at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia.

The Nasarawa State Child Protection Network (CPN) which got wind of the incident has decided to take over the issue legally. The men who perpetrated the act – one Adamu and one Suleiman – were said to have gone to the boy’s house at about midnight when his parents were not around, put pepper in his eyes, poured petrol over his body and set him on fire.

The men took the action sequel to a complaint by Adamu’s wife that the boy appeared to her in a dream in the form of a lizard and attacked her. Information at our disposal revealed that at the time of the incident, the parents of the boy were not at home as the father was reported to be ill and hospitalised in Wamba LGA of the state, the boy’s elder brother and aunt watched helplessly as the men engaged in their evil act.

Reacting to the incident, the CPN Coordinator in the state, Barrister Evelyn Kaderi said, the network decided to take up the matter formally and also ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.

Even though we gathered that the suspects were making efforts at settling the matter out of court, Kaderi said the decision was unacceptable to CPN.

She stressed that if the suspects were punished for their actions, it would serve as a deterrent to other people who have no regard for human lives and who decide to take the law into the hands.

Kaderi who had earlier visited the victim  on his hospital bed in company of other members of the network told the mother of the child; Jamila Haruna that CPN would not relent in its efforts at ensuring that justice prevailed.

Hunter Catches His Wife and His Friend Having Sex, Kills Wife

Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State, was struck with tragedy when a hunter, Igere Segun, who caught his friend and his wife making love in his bedroom and killed the wife.

 It was learnt that Segun raged at the sight of the two lovers in his bedroom, got hold of an iron and aimed a strike at the head of his friend.

The friend, however, dodged as the iron hits his wife, Aina, on the head.
The friend immediately bolted from the room while the wife, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to Olujobi Hospital in Ikeji Arakeji, where she died on the third day.

Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Mrs. Kalafite Adeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying the police were on the trail of Segun’s friend, whose name he gave as Abiodun. According to the commissioner, “The incident happened last Thursday in Ipetu-Ijesa. It occurred between 10:50pm and 11pm. The husband had gone out, but unexpectedly came back late in the night.
“Ostensibly, he caught them red-handed and in an attempt to hit the man with an iron rod, he hit the wife, who was rushed to Olujobi Hospital in Ikeji Arakeji…

She died the third day. The man is in custody while we are on the trail of the runaway lover. The case is being investigated.”

WORLD'S OLDEST PERSON TURNS 116

According to the Guinness World Records, Besse Cooper is the world's oldest person and she chose to use numbers instead of actual candles when she celebrated her 116 th birthday on Sunday. Guinness claims Cooper is one of only eight people who have reached 116.

In honor of Cooper's achievement, a bridge was named after her in Monroe, Ga., where she lives by the Walton County Board of Commissioners. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday, Aug. 24 for the bridge opening.

Cooper was certified as the world's oldest person by Guinness World Records in January 2011, although she briefly had to give up her title when it was discovered that Brazilian-born Maria Gomes Valentin was 48 days older. But when Valentin died six months later, Cooper was reinstated as the world's oldest person.


Cooper was born in Sullivan, Tenn., in 1896, according to the Walton Tribune. She moved to Monroe during World War I to become a teacher. In 1924, she married her husband Luther and the couple had four children. Today, Cooper has 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, according to the Guinness World Records.

Cooper has a secret to achieving 116 years of life, she says she minds her own business and she doesn't eat junk food.

Will.I.AM is gearing up to premiere his new single Reach For The Stars on Mars today (Tuesday, 28th August).

Back in June, it was reported that the Black Eyed Peas star had penned a song for NASA, telling Graham Norton: "There is a rocket going to Mars, it lands in August and when it lands it will send back a signal to earth and that the signal will be the song."

NOTE: PRICE OF BREAD SET TO BE INCREASED FROM SEPT 1.

Following the increase in the price of flour and other products by the government, in a move to encourage the use of cassava, the Lagos State chairman of the Association of Master Bakers and Confectioneries, Jacob Adejorin has confirmed that price of bread would be increased as from September 1, following the increment of price of flour and other ingredients.

According to Adejorin, “Members of our association has no option but to increase the price of bread because of the N1, 000 additions on the price of flour but consumers can be assure of more quality products as we will on 28 of this month hold a seminar to further standardise our products”.

Pointing out that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria would oversee the seminar, Adejorin further added that the master bakers would not work on 31st of August as they would be going on sensitisation exercise across Lagos State. Meanwhile, he has criticized the move by the government, basing his criticism on the fact that government has not put adequate machinery in place to ensure the success of the innovation, which in itself he said he has nothing against.

In his words, “Currently, the machinery available is meant for wheat based bread, we will be ready to support the government in the crusade if the new initiative can come with machinery for cassava flour that can be demonstrated and found effective.”

The Osun Osogbo Festival, an event which draws tourists from all over the world, is known for the fertility purposes it serves for the culture to which it belongs since its inception. The festival takes place annually at the Osun Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, reports emerging about this year’s edition of the festival seem to suggest that a new dimension is being introduced to the festival.

A few weeks ago it was announced that popular Yoruba erotic singer, St. Janet was part of the lineup of artistes that will be performing at the festival this year. This raised questions regarding the relevance of the erotic performer to the festival. The organizers of the event can easily defend the decision on the ground that the festival is a fertility festival. In fact they can make reference another fertility festival which celebrates eroticism – the Oke’badan Festival.

But recent developments on this year’s edition of the festival have confirmed that either the organizers are truly confused on what they intend to achieve with the festival, or they simply want to promote casual sex. And, the chairperson, Osun Osogbo HIV/AIDS Prevention Committee, Dr Temitope Ilori, said the initiative was aimed at checking the spread of the disease during the festival.

This little boy born in Leizhou, South China, November 5, is just a healthy and normal baby, but has eight toes on each foot and five fingers but no thumbs on both hand.
His rare condition, called polydactylism, is usually genetic. The parents will have all the extra digits surgically removed, his dad said.

At a time when women were really getting tired of doing all the birth controlling, Scientists have made a recent development in the birth control pill for men and may be one step closer to marketing the pill to the public. ABC News reports have it that a birth-control option for men in the form of a pill called JQ1 reduces sperm production in men.
This brings a new light to the burden women have always carried, bringing us to a new understanding of the fact that even the birth control burden can be shared.

A-list actress, Genevieve Nnaji, was absent at the UK premiere of the movie she starred in, Tango With Me.

The much hyped premiere of the award-winning movie, was well attended. Genevieve and Joseph Benjamin were the lead characters in the movie.While Joseph Benjamin was in attendance, Genevieve was nowhere in sight as she was reportedly in the US.

It is whispered that an undisclosed sponsor of her trip to the event, which is a third party, may have been responsible for her absence at the event.

J MARTINS: NEW RIDES

Music producer and song writer, J Martins just bought for himself a Rolls Royce Phantom and Mercedes Benz G-Wagon. 

He was said to be formerly cruising around town in a Toyota Corolla car.
While J Martins has confirmed the purchase and subsequent shipment of the G-Wagon into the country any moment from now, paper work on the Rolls Royce Phantom (which the singer will not confirm nor deny) is incomplete hence delaying its shipment into the shores of the country together with the other automobile.

J Martins is presently in God’s own country, the United States of America where he recently undertook a month summer executive media production course in New York.
Who says hard work and dedication does not pay? This is a massive step-up for J Martins and the cars sure befit the status of an artiste of his calibre.

UK'S MOST WANTED : OLUTAYO OWOLABI

His name is Olutayo Owolabi & we can bet he has a British passport, said to be 40years old. His mug shot was released with 19 others on Thursday all said to have conned the Government out of a total of 756 Million Pounds (N24 B). They have been tagged Britain most prolific tax dodgers. According to the report, while some of the accused are still holed up in hiding in Britain, many have vamoosed abroad.


They were tagged as criminals Thursday morning, and have being put on the most wanted list with their mug shots displayed, so they can either be found or hunted down after absconding from trials or after they were accused of crimes against the state. Olutayo Owolabi, 40, was convicted in January 2010 for 27 charges linked to tax credits and money laundering. The estimated cost to the tax payer was 1 Million Pounds (N 246M). In total tax evasion & fraud is said to have cost taxpayers around 10 Billion Pounds a year. The 20 so accused have contributed 756 Million Pounds of the 10 Billion Pounds.

JAMES IBORI MOVED TO MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON WITH TERRORISTS

James Ibori, the convicted former governor of Delta State, has been transferred to a maximum-security prison, the Worcestershire Long Lartin Prison outside London.
 

UK prison officials in the United Kingdom confirmed the transfer to our correspondent, but said they could not tell what informed the move. “Yes, Mr. Ibori is now serving his prison term in the Long Lartin prison in Worcestershire,” said an official of the UK prisons.



The maximum-security prison houses terrorists, rapists, drug barons and other violent criminals. A recent report in The Guardian, a major UK newspaper, portrayed the prison as a rough, lawless facility where gangsters reign supreme.

FRAUD: ANGRY US FANS CALL FOR BANKY W'S ARREST

Angry US fans of the EME group have called for the arrest and prosecution of the Banky W, insisting he should be made to pay compensation and make total refund of their money for the purchase of tickets for the cancelled shows.

Many have also expressed disappointment over the sudden cancellation of Wizkid’s concert that was set to hold on August 17 in Oakland California alongside his tour of North America. It was gathered that the fans are saying Banky W should stop organizing shows if he doesn’t have what it takes to make them succeed.

Present uprising in the entertainment world is that related to the EME show that was said to have held in the United States. Those who bought tickets for the EME shows in the United States are alleging fraud, and Banky W, as the boss of the group has been placed in the center of the whole noise.

Claim by fans have been that Banky W has been quiet as usual, on this case as they expect a refund of the money paid for the tickets bought for the show.
 

Chris Brown And Drake Slammed With $16 million Lawsuit

Chris Brown  and Drake have been slammed with $16 million lawsuit by people connected to the night club which was the site of the June 14th, bottle throwing, bloody brawl.

Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., which has a financial stake in the NYC venue where the brawl went down, claims in the suit that both stars “shared a grudge against the other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman.” In case you missed that … Rihanna is the bone of contention.

According to the suit by EEL,  when Drake and Brown crossed paths, they “began to fight violently with each other.” The suit goes on … “Each arrived with his own small army of bodyguards, ‘security’ personnel, employees, friends and other members of their entourage consisting of at least 15 heavily built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat.”

The lawsuit says both Drake and Chris each ordered their goons to take care of business. The suit also credits the crews of both Drake and Chris with ingenuity, claiming they “fashioned deadly weapons out of whatever materials they could find, including glasses, alcohol bottles and furniture.”
The suit asks for $16 million in damages. Eye witnesses however claim neither Chris nor Drake laid a hand on each other during the brawl.

WOODEN PC: CHECK OUT THE WORLD'S GREENEST PC...

An Irish company, MicroPro, has produced what is now referred to as the world’s “greenest PC", the Iameco (pronounced “I am eco”) tablet PC. 20 per cent of the PC's materials can be easily re-used in other computers, and another 78 per cent can be recycled. The tablet was developed with the help of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration in Germany, which claims it is “the most environmentally friendly computer of its type”.

Notably, the computer’s casing is made from wood; MicroPro buys offcuts of sustainably sourced timber, such as walnut, solid oak or beech, from European furniture makers, and transports it back to a factory in Galway, Ireland, to make the computers.

The machine’s standard components, such as memory cards and processors are largely halogen-free, and it contains no mercury, lead, PVC, plastics or flame retardants. Besides, the PC's components can be easily upgraded, giving it a lifespan of up to 10 years, a significant increase on the three to five year lifespan of most modern PCs.

TINSEL: MATILDA OBASEKI HAS BEEN REPLACED

Lovers of Tinsel, M-NET series, Matilda Obaseki who got pregnant after her engagement, has since been relieved of her role on the popular series.

 

Ghanaian actress, Leonora Okine, has since replaced the actress.Though there hasn’t been any official reason for the drop, popular opinion has been that her new status may not just fit into the role of the MNET series.

Bobby Brown heads back to rehab

Six months after his ex-wife Whitney Houston died due to a combination of cocaine use, heart disease, and ultimately drowning, Bobby Brown is seeking treatment for his own addictions. The former New Edition singer, who was arrested for DUI in March, is currently in a rehab center, his new wife, Alicia Etheredge confirms he's doing great."

Although a source tells the site that Brown, 43, is getting help for an alcohol addiction, his wife of just two months wouldn't confirm that detail.

Apparently, Brown is worried that his 19-year-old daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina, would fall into the same addictions as her mother and father.
